Lara Catone has dedicated her life's work to creating radical cultural change through transformative education.  As a leader in the field of women's sexual wellness, Lara has pioneered a worldwide movement of women waking up to the power and intelligence of their bodies.

An educator for 20 years, Lara spent the early part of her career focused on working with youth from preschool through college primarily in underserved urban settings with a focus on progressive and alternative approaches to learning.

For the last 15 years Lara has immersed herself in the studies of experiential and somatic (body-based) learning as a teacher of yoga and authentic movement, birth doula, childbirth educator and somatic sexologist.

She is widely known for her revolutionary post-baby healing and strengthening program Elemental Body (formerly Restore Your Core). Elemental Body has successfully supported core-related injuries such as diastasis recti, umbilical hernia, back pain, incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse while restoring connection to true core power and vitality.

In 2015 Lara founded The Artemis School for Women's Sexual Sovereignty—the first and only educational institution weaving sex education with embodiment and nature based mystery traditions. The Artemis School certifies practitioners as Sex Educators specializing in Women’s Holistic Sexuality.

Lara currently offers private mentorship for individuals and consulting for organizations on creating transformative and experiential education.

Lara is dreaming a future of a turned on global community and thriving planet where human potential is evoked through creativity, connection and collaboration.

About the Writing on this Site

On the writing page you will find a sneak peak into my in-progress memoir with true, personal stories and poetry alongside general musings on love, life, sexuality, relationship and culture.

I have been a student of the erotic--the pure, animating force that pulsates through every living being--for as long as I can remember.  In the larger definition of eros we find a place of raw, undomesticated energy that is guided by our animal instinct and compels us toward, and into communion with, our desires.

Throughout my life I can trace many initiations into the realms of love, sex and relationship that have led me on a journey to discover body autonomy and sexual sovereignty. Here I share stories of these initiations and how I have learned to make meaning in this wild, human life.  The writing here contains explicit personal and sexual experiences, some of which were painful or traumatic. It is my intention to write all of these stories from a place of wholeness and integration.

In the sharing of my story my wish is to inspire that life itself—in all of its complex flavors—offers tremendous opportunity for growth, to open into the most exquisite expression of our full, messy, divinely human selves and ultimately to live a life of incredible meaning and service.

These stories are an offering to all of the stories that we haven’t yet told. May these stories serve to illuminate all of the stories that live in the dark, shadowy corners.  May these stories evoke the parts in all of us that have been hiding because they are too shameful or too great. May these stories arouse the courage to stand in what is true for you, claim your unique path and the vulnerability to be seen there.

Stories span my entire 39 years on the planet so far and are not written sequentially.  Identities of all other people have been changed.
